Glass door to the minerals boardroom remains shatterproof

Catching up on April’s Strictly Boardroom column on MiningNews.net we get to a special guest piece, with Alex Atkins on the continuing lack of women in the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) minerals sector boardroom.

A quick tally suggests only 7.7% of boardroom positions are held by women, across the top 150 largest minerals companies on the ASX. This suggests a rise of just a few percent over the five years or so. Disappointing to say the least.

Hopefully, some of the initiatives Alex describes in the article though will help increase the numbers of women in the boardroom.

The article is entitled “Glass door to the minerals boardroom remains shatterproof” and is available to subscribers on MiningNewsPremium.net. Otherwise, contact me for a copy.

For keen followers of the Strictly Boardroom column, our book “Strictly (Mining) Boardroom Volume II: A Practitioners Guide for Next Generation Directors” was published last year and is available as a paperback or e-book from Major Street Publishing or Amazon. We’re pleased to say that the book received a very positive review in the AusIMM Bulletin.
