This week’s Strictly Boardroom column on MiningNewsPremium.net with Allan Trench compared the strategic approaches of the oil and mining industries. A recent visit by a delegation from the University of Alberta, Canada, who were steeped in the state’s oil-sands industry, to The University of Western Australia’s Business School (a more, but not exclusively, mining-orientated place) facilitated discussion of approaches to key strategic issues and which of the two industries were currently doing it better. The article entitled “Crude comparisons” summarises the discussion on the strategic approach to technology, project development, exploration and social licence by the oil and mining industry.
